Almost February

February is almost here and we have so much to show you from January!

Here we are working on our Torn Painted Paper Collage.  To do this project, students had to create 5 small original paintings that were based on design.  The students took these painted designs and tore them up into shapes and arranged them on a large piece of paper.  This creates a fantastic, abstract, painted collage.  These painted collages are straight from the students imagination and are 100% original.  They are so bright and colorful.

These drawings in pastel were done before 2nd Quarter and were hung in our school lunch room. The students did a great job!

See you soon!

A New Year - 2013

ART I

Well, we are off to a new year!  The Art I students have started their painting unit which will last for the whole second semester.  I enjoy this half of the year so much due to the fact that we are painting.

Our first project was done on a large piece of poster board.  We used Tempera paint and sharpie to create these abstract paintings.

Here are some examples of the finished product.

ART II

The Art II students began these drawings in ink last quarter.  Drawing with ink is a very time consuming process since you have to dip the pen in ink each time  you take it to the paper.  The ink that we used is a permanent ink called India Ink.  The students worked from copyright free images from CLIP ART ETC and Karen's Whimsey.
The images that they worked from were etchings from the 18th century.
You might recognize some of the characters from Literature and from the Bible.

Coming Soon.....
Masterpiece Reproductions - ART II
and

Also the next post will feature some sneak peaks of Art III, IV and Honor students work.
