Paint, Paint and More Paint

You guessed it!  We have been doing a lot of painting around the art room.
Art I students worked on watercolor paintings inspired by the work of a current artist named Megan Noel Smith.  Her web-site is www.megannoel.com.
In class, we viewed Megan's web-site and looked at her paintings.  The students enjoyed the freedom of her abstract works.  Megan Noel Smith's work was viewed as a source of inspiration for watercolor exploration.

Art I
Last week, we learned about the very famous artist Romare Bearden.  Romare Bearden was popular during the Harlem Renaissance.  He worked in a mixed media format for a lot of his compositions.
The students created mixed media self portraits inspired by the work of Romare Bearden.  They used photographs of themselves that we posed for and took in class, magazine clippings, items printed from the computer, scrap paper, paint, glue and some even used glitter.  I absolutely LOVE the way these turned out!
